Account Executive

Position: Account Executive
Location: New York, NY

FirstRain, the leader in search driven research applications is looking for is looking for energetic, new business focused Sales Executives that will be tasked with locating new opportunities in the Financial Services area for FirstRain. This position is located at the FirstRain New York office, and reports directly to the VP of Sales. Primary responsibility will be to locate develop and close new Asset Management, and Research driven clients in Financial Services.

FirstRain is a well funded, early stage, growth company which provides an on-demand, professional level vertical search technology to derive valuable information from the world wide web for Financial Firms. FirstRain has made their mark in the competitive intelligence business since 2004. The company is looking for a creative thinking sales person who can capitalize on the success that FirstRain has had with their corporate clients and expand the book of business. Portfolio Manager, Research Analysts, and Traders are challenged to keep up with the huge data stream in the web that affects their business, including competitive advancements and market trends and this creates a fertile market for search-driven research.

Sales will be the driving force for this up and coming company that is breaking new ground in the financial research sector. Candidates will be given territories in New York and a portion of the United States. The primary end user of FirstRain services is typically under the gun to make decisions quickly, and therefore Account Executives must have the ability to impress potential subscribers with key points to peak interest. Candidates need to have an affinity for pioneering new concepts to the Buy-Side, and must also be able to ask for orders.

FirstRain Account Executives are creative and resourceful. Key to success is to have a strong understanding of what a prospect does on a daily basis, and therefore tap into the need of streamlining the research they need to be effective. The need of FirstRain clients and prospects is universal, find impactful information and save time! The FirstRain service is unique and configured by FirstRain for each client - leading to very high relevancy of differentiated information. Account Executives must use this simple concept to close business. As a FirstRain Sales person you will be compensated for new as well as renewal business. Position Responsibilities:

  • Locate, develop, cultivate, and sign up new clients.
  • Organize a comprehensive Sales Strategy focused on new business, as well as renewing, and up selling within existing clients.
  • Able to handle large ticket sales and enterprise sales strategies.
  • Research topics that are pertinent to prospective clients and schedule demonstrations in person, and via WebEx.
  • Work with client services to maximize product knowledge.
  • Develop a lasting sales process.
  • Work closely with VP of Sales to organize pipelines for new and renewal business.

Candidate Requirements:

  • 5+ years selling financial solutions, and having a proven track record of success closing business.
  • Energetic, self motivated person who wants to close new business.
  • Strong follow up and presentation skills.
  • Able to deal with high level clients who have precious little time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative thinker that can uncover needs in an unstructured environment.
  • Comfortable selling a technology based solution
  • Strong Closing skills
  • Excellent relationship building skills.
  • Willing to do whatever it takes for FirstRain to succeed.

Equity Research Intern

Position: Equity Research Intern
Location: Foster City, CA

FirstRain is looking for the right person to be an Equity Research Intern and join our fast-paced company as we increase market share.

As an Equity Research Intern your work will directly impact the deployment and sales of our search-driven research applications for investment professionals.

FirstRain combines cutting-edge technology with models of companies and topics in a market context to extract relevant intelligence from the web. The FirstRain Financial product draws from a broad universe of publicly available and private subscription content which includes: hard-to-find information that appears in sector-specific sources, premium subscription sites, influential blogs, local news and international news. FirstRain targets information that investment professionals might normally miss during their current research process.

Role & Responsibilities

You will report directly to the Head of Research in our Foster City office. In this capacity, you will deliver on many fast-turnaround research projects in response to Sales and Customer needs. This work will give you insight into the minds and investment process of top-line Money/Asset Managers across the globe. To be successful, you will need to effectively interact with our Sales / Client Management staff in New York, and our Business Analytics Team in Gurgaon, India.

Examples of the types of projects include:

  • Analysis of a specific Company, Industry or Sector to identify market driving events, trends and issues.
  • Analysis of sell-side equity research reports to identify important market and industry drivers.
  • Research and specification of market driving Topics to support customer projects.
  • Assist in the build out and clean-up of the FirstRain Topic repository so that all Topics have clear descriptions and profiles.
  • Follow-up on Customer and Sales feedback to crisply identify changes in coverage required to improve end-user relevancy.

Potential Candidates Should

  • Have, or be working towards, an MBA or CFA certification.
  • Has a solid understanding of, and interest in, the financial markets.
  • Have the ability to think clearly and present recommendations / suggesting to peers and Management.
  • Have the ability to rapidly understand companies and the defining characteristics of Industries / Sectors.
